5K FOR KALI

The 5K for Kali is one of Coast FA’s most meaningful community traditions — created in memory of Kali Rank, a Coast FA player remembered for her honesty, joy, and tenacity for life. Following her tragic passing in an automobile accident, the Weathers family — Maddie and Lindsay Weathers — partnered with Coast FA to establish an event that would carry Kali’s spirit forward in a way that continues to help others.


Each year, players, families, and supporters across the Grand Strand come together to celebrate Kali’s life and to strengthen the community she loved. The event reflects the values she lived by and the impact she had on her teammates and coaches.


Scholarships That Carry Kali’s Legacy Forward


Proceeds from the 5K fund the Kali Rank Memorial Scholarship, awarded annually to graduating Coast FA seniors who are continuing their education in college. Scholarship applicants write an essay reflecting on:

  • How they embody Kali’s defining traits — honesty, a tenacity for life, and the courage to stand up for what they believe in
  • How their Coast FA experience has prepared them for the next chapter


These scholarships help ease the financial burden of early college expenses and ensure that Kali’s legacy continues to shape the futures of Coast FA players for years to come.

GHANA SISTER CLUB

A global partnership built on connection, opportunity, and shared love for the game


Coast FA is proud to maintain a long-standing partnership with a sister club in Ghana, creating a meaningful connection between players across continents. Through this relationship, Coast FA provides uniforms, cleats, balls, and training equipment to support young players who often have limited access to resources.


In return, our players gain a deeper understanding of the global soccer community. They see how the game brings people together, no matter where they live or what challenges they face.
